What is the IKGH ?

At the beginning of the 1980s, representatives of several European guppy clubs decided to standardise the judging rules within the continent and to hold a recognised European championship of guppy breeders. In order to ensure a better organisation and coordination of the championship shows and a continuous work on the newly developed standard, the International Kuratorium Guppy High-breeding (IKGH) was founded.
When the first International High-breeding Standard (IHS) was drafted, it was agreed that the standard must be revised every four years. During the revision by representatives of the IKGH member associations, suggestions for improvement by the judges working at the shows and the exhibiting breeders are to be taken into account. Furthermore, the regular revision should not hinder the development of new breeding forms by inflexible standardisation.

Today, more than 40 clubs from over 20 countries are members of the IKGH and breed beautiful and healthy guppies according to the IHS.
